Posse o Women

Being a single senior in Munds Park isn’t easy. Most of this community is coupled. I haven’t seen any dating action in the park since I spent my first summer here in 2008. I have met men to date in Flagstaff and Sedona. But what I missed most up here is the Posse of Women I hang out with in the Valley. Actually, several posses. I have friends from each place I’ve worked, from my neighborhood, and people I met taking classes. On any given day, I can call up someone and do lunch, a movie, play a game, go to a basketball game, yappy hour or take dogs to the park, etc.

This year I have finally amassed a Posse of Women in Munds Park. I have people I can call to go to Sedona for an independent movie, travel to Flag to enjoy live music, have over for dinner or drinks, etc. I’m not sure why it took five years to make single friends. And I have to admit a few are from my complex in Scottsdale who have moved here for the summer.

I’m more available this year. I’m not as busy with rehearsals as in prior years. Perhaps I’m just more open.

For instance, last week I went with Donna and Laura to Sedona to see a French film, The Well-Digger’s Daughter. It was excellent and we had fun eating at Nick’s Restaurant afterward to discuss the movie. Friday night I went to the lobster dinner with Joan and Laura. Scruptious! On Saturday I went to lunch at the county club with one friend, enjoying the live band. She left and Marion, Laura and her company met me and we had quite a time dancing to the music and imbibing spirits.

I remember several years when I went to these events, but by myself, and felt like odd duck. Now I feel included.

Everyone deserves his or her own posse.
